The Treat Table Cannes Themed 7th Birthday Party

The beginning of summer is, personally, my favorite time of year.  In Florida, its not yet too hot, and the days are sunny.  A pool party is always a great option for a summer birthday.  When thinking of the theme for this event, we toyed with the same-o beachy stuff.  But I had this great poster of Cannes that hangs in our living room, and it just popped into my head.  Then again, Cannes is such a sophisticated theme, we had to remember it was for a super spirited 7 year old girl.  The colors were narrowed down to yellow and royal blue, because the umbrellas are all one seems to notice when in the South of France.  It was a bright and fun theme and the birthday girl couldn't believe the cake was a sand castle!
Of course, children tend to like things they are familiar with... believe it or not, we were quite impressed that all the children picked up the fruit skewers FIRST! Then of course, the cookies and creme cake pops.  Rice krispies treats, key lime pies, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, smores pops... fishies, salt water taffy, and swedish fish were the finishing touches.

Hope we captured the deco flair of Cannes!

Jeannette (The Perfect Piece of Cake) had the arduous task of creating this sand castle cake.  Cecilia was given the 3D umbrella to do...
